First@Five Choral Evensong

Evensong invites worshipers into a reflective worship experience as darkness falls to end the day, and it creates a sense of space and mystery where one feels the presence of God. For many, it is a time when breathing and heart rate slow, and the quiet rhythms of music, speech, and silence fill the sanctuary. Feel free to close your eyes and let music and word wash over you.

The service is largely sung by the choir - chanting the psalms of the day, singing the Magnificat, Mary’s song as she awaits the birth of Jesus, and the Nunc Dimittis, Simeon’s song as he reaches the end of his life. The music of Evensong is the music of prayer, as the musicians pray on behalf of the congregation, the community, and the world. In our Reformed setting, the service includes scripture read by congregants, hymns sung by the congregation, and a meditation.

Following the service, we hope you will stay and join us in Old Buttonwood Hall for a light pizza supper.
