Beyond Our Community

Opportunities to get involved on the national or international level.

Urban Mosaic

Large numbers of unreached peoples are congregating in urban slums around the world.  By 2050, 40% of the world's population will be located in urban slums.  Urban Mosaic in Mexico City is focused on holistically transforming urban poor communities, and First Church is joining with them.  If you would be interested in participating in or contributing to a week-long missions trip to Mexico City October 7-14, please contact the Missions Committee or Rev. Jesse Garner.

Mission Volunteers

Mission Volunteers can be anyone aged 18 or older, and can serve from a few weeks to a year or more.  Opportunities include camps and conference centers, community centers, governing bodies, not-for-profit agencies, congregational life, child/adolescent care, health, refugee, older adult, higher education and social welfare ministries.  One Door, an online referral system for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), is the tool to use to become a volunteer. This system has been developed to give you a place to seek opportunities for employment, mission service and volunteer service based on individual interests and gifts.  Through this system you can view descriptions of positions, submit your One Door profile and refer yourself to a wide variety of opportunities with the PC(USA).  For more information visit One Door.
